Doctor Zira's story was re-told in the Planet of the Apes video game. Her first appearance in the game can be viewed. She studied the unusual human, Ulysses, when he was first captured and taken to the Ape laboratories. She wanted to undertake a detailed examination of him but was over-ruled by Zaius, who decided Ulysses should be sent to the mandrill militia for execution. Ulysses had escaped before this could be carried out. Zira had discussed the human specimen with her husband Cornelius.
