Y-von motivating Apex
Y-von was a gorilla who trained with her partner Apex for a long time. During a training sesion instructed by General Ursus, Apex told her he found the exercises they were instructed to do humiliating, so she encouraged him to do something about it if he didn’t like them. After that, both were deployed along with their platoon to the Forbidden Zone, with the mission to kill a group of humans who had infested a hidden conclave. While at the border of the forbidden zone, she and Apex set up a pair of scarecrows to deter any other humans from trespassing. She commented to her comrades, "You think they'd eventually learn," to which the gorilla accompanying them replied that if the humans learned, they wouldn’t be doing this tour of the forbidden zone.
Apex and Y-von hear the death of a fellow soldier
She and her comrades observed the impressive biome that had somehow been created by the cave, but they still marched forward with determination. She saw the shadows of humans looming across the area. While they were in the enclave, the humans, knowing the gorillas' intentions, set a trap for them. Y-von saw how the soldiers were taken out one by one by the humans and heard how the humans murder a fellow soldier.

General Ursus ordered her and the others to open fire. She managed to kill a couple of humans, while Apex grappled with a human trying to strangle him, although she didn’t see that he spared the human’s life. They returned to the city, and although they were victorious in their mission, the events made Apex realize how flawed ape society was. With this new mindset Y-von then decided to join her partner in starting a revolution to bring down the current regime of Ape City.
