Doctor Stanton was a scientist who lived during the latter half of the 20th century. He developed an astronomical theory concerning time travel, which he referred to as "Time Thrust". In 1976, NASA astronauts, Bill Hudson, Judy Franklin and Jeff Carter tested Stanton's theory by propelling their space vessel The Venturer, two-thousand years into the future.
Notes
- The character of Doctor Stanton was created by writer Larry Spiegel.
- Doctor Stanton was referenced in the pilot episode of Return to the Planet of the Apes entitled "The Flames of Doom".
- The character of Doctor Stanton is an analog to Otto Hasslein, the presidential science advisor first referenced in the 1968 film, Planet of the Apes. He was again referenced in Beneath the Planet of the Apes, where his theory on a quantum bend in space was identified as a "Hasslein Curve". Hasslein made his first actual appearance in the second sequel, Escape from the Planet of the Apes.
