Publisher Overview[]
"Welcome to Planet of the Apes! In this immersive scenario-based cooperative game set between the second and third films of the Caesar trilogy, you and your friends lead a group of apes against human squads. Thanks to their familiarity with the forest, your apes use the terrain to hide, observe enemies from a distance, move with agility and climb on trees to gain strategic advantage. Humans, while hampered by their inability to climb, have superior technology that gives them considerable firepower. You'll constantly have to make the best tactical decisions, anticipate human actions, coordinate and help each other."[1]
Synopsis[]
"Since Koba's devastating attack on the city, which marked the beggining of a merciless war between humans and APES, the forest has become the scene of frequent human incursions. Determined to find CAESAR's camp, the humans hope to bring down the iconic leader and gain a decisive advantage."
Development and Cancellation[]
The game was first announced in late 2017 by the small French publisher WYSIWYGames, with a planned release sometime the following year. However, this promise quickly fell through. Although a Gamefound campaign was attempted, there appeared to be no real progress up through 2019. When the Disney acquisition of Fox began, the project entered a state of limbo for the next five years.
In mid-2024, the company Z or Alive—founded by the board game's original creator—announced that the project would finally launch, pending the success of a Kickstarter campaign. A few months later, when the campaign went live, it only reached about 75% of its funding goal. After several ups and downs, the project was ultimately canceled.

Notes[]
- Just like the Planet of the Apes Roleplaying Game, the Board Game was submitted to a funding campaign before it could enter retail. While the Roleplaying Game was successfully backed within the first 10 minutes of its campaign, the Board Game did not share the same luck, ultimately being canceled with no current plans for release.
