Maxine Botelho is an actress who played numerous ape characters in three out of five of the original Planet of the Apes films. From an extended family which was frequently employed as movie extras, she appeared as background apes in the movies alongside other members of her family, including her sister Erlynn. In Conquest of the Planet of the Apes Maxine played a chimp in the 'Breeding Annex' of Ape Management, to whom a geneticist summoned Caesar for mating.[1]
