Leeta was a close friend of Ari.

Biography

She tried to dampen the extreme ideals that were likely to lead Ari into trouble, and suggested she should consider Thade's interest in her, as he could give her a very comfortable life.

Note

• When Leeta first appeared in the film, her species was undetermined, but the unpublished novel Planet of the Apes: Rule would have retconned her into being a bonobo.
  • This makes Leeta the first bonobo and the only female bonobo to appear in the franchise, despite the common fan misconception that Koba was the first bonobo.
