Hurry! Back to work!
Lake convincing the apes to resume working on the wall again to save Caesar[src]

Lake was an evolved chimpanzee, Blue Eyes' wife, and member of the Ape Council. She also served as the guardian of Caesar's youngest son Cornelius, and was vital in helping the apes escape Alpha-Omega's camp and migrate to their new home.

Early life[]

Lake was born in the Ape Village of Muir Woods to unknown chimpanzee parents. Lake also became close friends with Blue Eyes; who would become her husband in her early adulthood. When they were children, they were inseparable as Lake and Blue Eyes played all the time; until Blue Eyes started hunting and wanting to be with boys his age. Despite this, Lake never became estranged from Blue Eyes, as the two of them still maintained a close relationship all the way into adulthood.

War for the Planet of the Apes: Revelations[]

When Blue Eyes was leaving with Rocket, Ray, Malcolm, Ellie, and Alexander to search for threats South, Lake approached him asking him if he was going to leave without saying goodbye. Blue Eyes said yes and Lake was angry at him because of it and how clueless he was being. Blue Eyes was mocked by his traveling companions because of his cluelessness to Lake's attraction to him.

War for the Planet of the Apes[]

Lake is presumably Blue Eyes' wife as she greets him when he arrives after a long journey and they lovingly touch heads. She is also shown sitting alongside the Ape Council with her head on Blue Eyes' shoulder. She speaks up that it is impossible to move the entire colony overnight.

After an attack on the Ape Waterfall that resulted in the deaths of Cornelia and Blue Eyes, Caesar tasked Lake with taking care of Cornelius while he was away, stating, "You loved my son. Look after his brother". However, she and the rest of the ape colony were soon captured by the Colonel's soldiers, using them as slave labor to build a defensive wall.

Later at the labor camp, while several other apes shun Caesar, Lake gently tells him "forgive them, we've been through a lot". When McCullough points a gun to Caesar's head, trying to get him to tell the other apes to work, Lake lifts a rock above her head showing that she is ready to work, and thus saves his life when everyone begins to follow her.

Lake is seen taking care of Cornelius again after they break free, clinging to him; when an avalanche almost covers the apes. After reaching the desert, she is seen with Rocket, watching Cornelius play with Bad Ape and Nova before turning to Maurice; who was mourning Caesar's death.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes[]

Lake is briefly seen in a flashback to Caesar's funeral. Cornelius remains; by her side as his father's body burns on the funeral pier. It is most likely that; Lake raised Cornelius; until he would have been old enough to take his father, Caesar's place as the new Ape King.

Physical Appearance[]

Lake had the typical appearance of a female chimpanzee, having coarse black fur, dark grey skin, and flat breasts covered by her fur. Parts of her hair were tied together to form three braids on each side, and her scalp contained a parting of her hair. Despite her skin being a shade of grey, her mouth and chin are a shade of a tan-pink mixture. She wore tribal accessories with her braids, and she wore a fang as a pendant around her neck.

Righteous and protective, Lake seems to enjoy children as she is seen watching over them before greeting Blue Eyes, also later taking care of his little brother Cornelius. She is a faithful follower of Caesar and defends him while in captivity at McCullough's labor camp.

  • Animal Strength: Lake is much stronger than humans and most other apes, as she was able to lift a large rock above her head and lower it back down.
  • Genius-Level Intellect: As an evolved ape, Lake is highly intelligent, because her parents had inhaled the ALZ-113 early in their life, Lake has a higher level of intelligence than both of her parents combined.
  • Speech: As an evolved ape, Lake was capable of speech, but was never shown.
  • Sign Language: Like Lake's fellow apes, Lake used sign language as a way to communicate with other apes who cannot speak or have limited verbal speech.

See Lake/Relationships.

  • Lake and Blue Eyes were romantically involved, but were not (apparently) officially mated as Blue Eyes is seen sleeping with his family; but there is no direct evidence given to prove this.
  • After Caesar's death, it can be assumed that Lake played some role in raising Cornelius; alongside Maurice and Rocket.
  • Lake has a pendant with a fang of an unknown animal.
  • Many viewers mistook Lake as Cornelia; before the release of the final trailer; which showed a dead Cornelia and Blue Eyes.
  • In Revelations, it is revealed that Lake was one of Blue Eyes' close childhood friends, along with Ash, as she had romantic feelings towards Blue Eyes.
  • Likewise with other characters, Lake would've passed away during the time gap between War and Kingdom.
  • Along with Nova, Lake does not appear on-screen at Ceasar's funeral during the flashback in Kingdom.
