Koba's Loyalists, referred to as Koba's Followers, were a faction of evolved apes devoted to Koba and disenchanted with Caesar's leadership. This group was established by Koba at the onset of the Human-Ape War following his conspiracy against Caesar. Following Koba's demise, Red assumed command of the remaining apes loyal to Koba as part of his plan to eliminate Caesar.

Formation[]
Red approached Grey while he was watching humans set up a camp on the beach. Red criticized Caesar’s choice to allow the soldiers of Dreyfus' Army to leave, arguing that things would be better if Koba were still in charge. Grey responded by stating that nothing would have changed under Koba's leadership; the ship would have still arrived, and they would have had to confront it. Red proposed that Koba would have found a way to defeat them, but Grey countered that Koba’s hatred clouded his judgment and would only lead to victory if they were facing a few humans on the beach rather than a warship. Red then inquired whether they should take the female and young apes and leave to establish their own colony. Initially skeptical, Grey began to reconsider after Red outlined his plan and played on Grey’s doubts about Caesar, ultimately agreeing that Red’s proposal was the best course of action.
Coup defat[]
As part of the strategy, Red dispatched a group consisting of Fox, Stripe, and Aghoo to track down Blue Eyes and Rocket, who were scouting for potential threats in the South, with the intent to eliminate them. Red then deceived the humans into attacking the building where the female and juvenile apes were concealed, aiming to force Caesar to relocate them into the woods. The scheme succeeded to an unexpected degree, as the humans unleashed an unfamiliar weapon that nearly resulted in mass casualties. Nevertheless, the plan proceeded, with the Gorilla Guard, excluding Luca, escorting the apes into the woods for their safety. Red subsequently attempted to trap Cornelia and her son to manipulate the others into compliance, but Cornelia saw through his deception and escaped with Grey, while two other chimps pursued them. Cornelia managed to evade capture, prompting Red to send the chimps after her while he and Grey returned to the tribe. Red, along with a third of the Guard loyal to Koba, then resolved to discreetly disarm the remaining members before two gorillas caught them. Ajax and Ursus, the two gorillas, attempted to fend them off, but Ursus was killed, and Ajax was injured and fled. Grey and Red’s supporters then gathered the apes at gunpoint, fabricating a story that Caesar and his army had perished, insisting they must leave to safeguard the colony with Grey as their leader. Red falsely claimed that Ajax had attempted a coup with half the Guard's support, and they had acted in self-defense, alleging that Ajax had kidnapped the queen and prince. An albino gorilla named Winter accepted this falsehood more readily, resulting in increased trust from the others.
Although Grey held the title of King, it was Red who truly led, orchestrating their coup and effectively manipulating Grey as his puppet.
Red dispatched Olo and Sampson to pursue Cornelia, while Flint and Shell targeted Ajax, instructing them to eliminate both. The remaining group headed north to a location that Grey had previously scouted with Koba and Stone. During their journey, Grey’s wife, Cedar, was proclaimed Queen of their faction. Eventually, Sampson and Olo returned empty-handed after failing to locate Cornelia and her loyal group of female apes. In response, Red sent Oak to search for Cornelia. She eventually returned to the camp accompanied by a devoted female ape named Maple and Oak, who had become disillusioned with their actions after witnessing the corpses of Ajax, Flint, and Shell.
Red attempted to have Cornelia killed while she assisted a female ape named Rain in giving birth, but the other females and Oak intervened to protect her. Later, Grey confronted Red after he began defying orders to allow Cornelia to help. Although Red's strength gave him an advantage, Grey ultimately overpowered him and won the fight. Realizing the immorality of their actions, Grey commanded Oak to free the other captives of the Gorilla Guard. However, before this could happen, Red pulled out a gun and shot Grey in the head. He then turned the gun on Oak, but it jammed.
The other females, led by Cedar, retaliated against Red for killing Grey, forcing him to flee in fear and disgrace. Additionally, those Red had sent to eliminate Blue Eyes and Rocket were unsuccessful. Aghoo was killed by humans aiding the two chimps, Stripe escaped in terror, and Fox sacrificed himself to save Caesar and his army after Ray convinced him he was on the wrong side. Following these events, Red took his remaining followers and fled, terrified of Caesar's retribution for their betrayal and attempts on his life and family. Others also fled to avoid Caesar's wrath or to escape the ongoing conflict. One chimp named Khan left for both reasons, taking with him a group of apes who wished to escape the war to establish a new colony in the Rocky Mountains.
Captured by the Colonel[]
After the unsuccessful coup, Red and the remaining loyalists roamed Northern California to evade capture by Caesar. They were soon ambushed by troops commanded by J. Wesley McCullough and taken prisoner. McCullough was furious that none of the captured apes were Caesar and mockingly proposed asking Red if he could lead him to Caesar while aiming his gun at the gorilla, ready to kill him. Red responded affirmatively to McCullough, surprising the human with his apparent understanding. McCullough inquired if Red could take him to Caesar, to which the gorilla agreed, clarifying that Caesar was not his leader. Impressed by this, McCullough chose to spare Red's life. Subsequently, the remaining loyalists were incorporated as the majority of the Donkeys in McCullough’s army.
Known Members[]
There were approximately twenty-eight chimpanzees and five gorillas who shifted their allegiance from Caesar to Koba. Following their unsuccessful coup against Caesar, most of their trusted and high-ranking lieutenants were killed while other apes return their loyalty to Caesar, leaving only Red and twelve chimpanzees among Koba's loyalists.

- Although the group of apes that followed Koba were never mentioned by name in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the Novelization officially calls these apes "Koba's Loyalists".
- It was stated that all the soldiers from Koba’s Loyalists were all former members of Caesar's Ape Army.
Trivia[]
- After Red’s death and the destruction of the Alpha-Omega base, all remaining loyalists are deceased.
