John Barrett is a writer who co-wrote, with Jack Kaplan, three episodes of the 1975 Return to the Planet of the Apes cartoon series - "The Unearthly Prophecy", "River of Flames" and "Screaming Wings". His other writing credits were for the 1973 animated TV movie The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas (also by DePatie–Freleng Enterprises, and co-written with Larry Spiegel), and a 1983 follow-up, The Great Bear Scare.
