James Bacon was a journalist from Buffalo, New York with a career spanning more than twenty years employed by the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner. He has also worked in the entertainment industry playing bit parts in various films and television programs. A close friend of producer Arthur P. Jacobs, James Bacon is the only actor who has actually made an on-screen appearance in all five of the original Planet of the Apes films. In Planet of the Apes, Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes and Battle for the Planet of the Apes, Bacon played a bit parts as nameless gorilla soldiers. In Escape from the Planet of the Apes, he played the human General Faulkner for which he received not only a speaking part, but screen credit as well.[1]

  1. Actor Roddy McDowall shares screen-time in all five films, but McDowall's scenes from Beneath the Planet of the Apes were actually stock footage from the first movie. The role of Cornelius in Beneath the Planet of the Apes was primarily played by David Watson. As McDowall was technically unassociated with the second film, James Bacon maintains the record for the most POTA related appearances.
