Gunnar was one of the fiercest human warriors. When the apes tried to round him up, he fought back. During the last battle scene he killed the same Chimpanzee Soldier that hunted him but is killed soon after by Tuug.
Trivia[]
- In the first draft script, Gunnar is Daena's partner. He is captured and sent to his death in the gladiator arena of Derkein.[1]
- The name Gunnar means fighter, soldier and attacker in Nordic.
- The Gunnar is similar to Robert Gunner, who played John Landon in the original Planet of the Apes (1968), though this may be coincidental.
