The Dragoons were a vigilante hate group of apes who persecuted humans living near a cliffside town along the Pacific Ocean. Hooded and torch-bearing, the Dragoons took matters into their own hands after a local chimp, Lucian, was supposedly slain by humans.
When Perdix, the local police cheif, failed to find those responsible, the Dragoons harassed and killed several humans - unaware their leader, Zon, had actually committed the murder. Once the truth was exposed by Lucians brother, Sestus, Zon was arrested and the Dragoons turned their backs on him, ceasing all terrorist activities.
