Kenyan-born actor Gurdeep Roy, a frequent collaborator with director Tim Burton, played the child-ape roles of a Gorilla Kid and Thade's Niece in the 2001 movie Planet of the Apes. Roy has had a lengthy career in film and TV, often playing costumed parts thanks to his short stature. Credits include Doctor Who, Blake's 7, Flash Gordon, Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi, Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan (as an ape), The NeverEnding Story and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. His most visibly recognizable role was playing all of the 'Oompa-Loompas' in Burton's 2005 remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
