Brother Corvin was a chimpanzee monk from the Green Creek Monastery near Ape City. Eight years before Taylor's arrival, Brother Corvin was murdered by someone who looked identical to him. This person them assumed his identity and travelled to a secret ancient human military base, where he launched long-dormant missiles at the Moon, causing widespread destruction on Earth. The fake Corvin then went to Ape City and advised Corvin's friend Zaius during the city's recovery. Zaius eventually discovered that 'Corvin' was really a human mutant; a member of an extremist faction who wished to provoke the ultimate end of the world. Zaius killed him and hid the evidence, but what he learned of the mutants would influence his later decisions.
