- "The advancement that I crave requires time, vast amounts of time that I do not have. Unfortunately, I am but a mortal ape. So this is why I need to get the knowledge inside that vault. I believe it will deliver instant evolution."
- Proximus Caesar[src]
The Coastal Bunker or the Coronado Bay Complex USSS, as it was named by humans, was a military bunker and vault on the western coast of the United States. It was surrounded by the Coastal Ape Colony.
History[]
Early History[]
During the Simian Flu Pandemic, the American government stored equipment in underground facilities to survive the tumultuous period. This particular bunker had several stories, generators, and an armory, including M1 Abrams tanks and Humvees. Protected by large blast doors, the bunker was presumably intended to serve as a long-term shelter, as evidenced by the fact that it had a classroom inside. It is unknown if anyone lived in the bunker during and after the collapse of human civilization.
Proximus Caesar's Ambitions[]
By 2328, the bunker was long abandoned. Proximus Caesar, leader of the Coastal Ape Colony, discovered its location and wanted to use the weapons and technology it contained. He used the labor of other ape clans to build a dam around the main door. Meanwhile, the human Mae also sought to get a deciphering key in the bunker that would be able to restore human communication, and Noa wanted to prevent Proximus from gaining access to the weapons inside.
Noa, Mae, Soona, and Anaya gained access to the bunker through another entrance on top of a rocky cliff. The bunker was fairly well preserved, with the generators and lights still functioning. Mae was able to acquire the deciphering key. The group opened the main door, allowing all the other apes to come inside. However, Mae detonated explosives that flooded the bunker with all the apes inside, forcing them to flee up to the cliff exit and ruining Proximus' chance of acquiring human weapons.
