Central City was the capital of the ape government on the Planet of the Apes TV series. All of ape society was governed from this city.
Caste System[]
The city, like the rest of North America, was governed by a strict caste system. At the top of the caste were the apes, who ruled and dominated the whole society. They were citizens with rights who were (usually) treated fairly by the law. At the bottom of the caste were the humans, who were considered to be inferior by most apes. Labourers, clerks, and slaves were all jobs fit for a human. Living as second-class citizens at best, and slaves at worst, humans were regularly discriminated against and abused by their simian masters. They had no rights and were forced to be completely subservient.
Named Inhabitants[]
Trivia[]
- It was originally going to be called "Simian City".
- Despite the same set being used to film both cities, Central City is not the same place as the city that was featured in Planet of the Apes (1968) and Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970).
