The Bonobo (Pan paniscus) is one of the species of ape featured in the Planet of the Apes franchise. They come from the same "Pan" genus as the chimpanzee and have a close resemblance to them, but darker and slightly smaller. Like the two species of gorilla, these two species are native to the continent of Africa, but they evolved separately to the north (chimpanzee) and south (bonobo) of the Congo river. They have a population of around 50,000.

They come from the same "Pan" genus as the chimpanzee and have a close resemblance to them, but darker and slightly smaller. Like the two species of gorilla, these two species are native to the continent of Africa (Found in Africa's Democratic republic of the Congo in Salonga national Park), but they evolved separately to the north (chimpanzee) and south (bonobo) of the Congo river. They have a population of around 50,000.
