The Ape Rebellion, also known as the Ape Revolution and the Night of the Fires, was a rebellion led by an extremely intelligent chimpanzee, named Caesar.

The rebellion started; when Caesar learned of the death of his adoptive human father, Armando, it became the last straw for him, as Caesar started his rebellion not just to get justice/revenge for the death of Armando, but also to free his fellow apes from enslavement.

History[]

Conquest of the Planet of the Apes[]

Background[]

In 1983, dogs and cats from all over the world began to die within a few months as the result of a plague brought back from outer space by an astronaut. To replace their pets, humans began to use Apes as replacements, but after realizing how quickly apes learned, humans started to train them to do chores and began to treat them like slaves

By 1991, the U.S. had become a semi-totalitarian country which included an Ape Management group that conditioned apes to be enslaved, making them learn many labor tasks through various methods that could be considered tortuous.

Caesar's Arrival[]

Circus owner Armando has since been taking care of Caesar, the child of the talking apes Zira and Cornelius, who were murdered years ago by Dr. Otto Hasslein in an effort to stop humanity from being replaced by apes. In 1991, 18 years after the death of his biological parents, Caesar visited Modern City with Armando to give out flyers for their circus. While the ape at this point had began to speak fluently and even started emulating some of Armando's human mannerism, Caesar had to act like a regular ape to avoid being discovered and executed by humans.

Experiencing first-hand the brutality on the apes, Caesar is unable to contain his anger and frustration after seeing a brutal assault on a simian messenger named Aldo, prompting him to yell "Lousy, human bastards!". After the security force overhears him, Armando separates from Caesar as he takes the blame for the incident, telling Caesar to hide among the ape slaves while he clears the incident with the authorities.

Tragedy Strikes[]

While Armando was taken into custody and interrogated during a number of days, Caesar infiltrated Ape Management as part of a shipment from Borneo. Once in the training facilities, Caesar witnessed even more of the brutality humans inflicted on apes in order to keep them obedient. He also began to slowly gain the trust of the other apes that were trained at the facilities. Caesar's abilities soon have him working for Governor Breck.

Unfortunately, at the end of Armando's interrogation, he was forced to confess Caesar's true origin, and later accidentally died after falling out of a window while trying to escape in order stop giving more information, the news eventually reached Caesar, who was angered and saddened by the loss of his protector. This event made the ape lose all faith in humanity and start a revolution.

Planning a Revolution[]

Using the trust he gained from his fellow apes, Caesar began to instill a rebellious nature on them, making them purposely fail at their tasks and steal sharp objects that could be used as weapons. The new Ape Army gathered in the basement of a building, where they stash the weapons they collected while they plan their revolution. With all apes in the city acting rebelliously, the Ape Management facilities become full and are unable to accept all requests of reconditioning the apes from their masters.

After Caesar begins to obtain more weapons, the government finds out that he infiltrated Ape Management, deducing that he was the talking ape and child of Zira and Cornelius. As Governor Breck requested Mr. MacDonald to bring Caesar to Inspector Kolp, the ape overhears how MacDonald lies to the governor to protect him, realizing that he has an ally on the human side in the form of the Governor's assistant.

Ape Revolution Begins[]

Caesar revealed his ability to speak to MacDonald, along with his plans to start a revolution for the sake of the future Ape civilization. Unfortunately, despite MacDonald choosing to let him go, Caesar was captured later that night and taken back to Ape Management where he was tortured in hopes of making him speak, which the officers succeed in doing. Now with full confirmation that Caesar was intelligent, the Governor ordered to use the same electroshock machine used to reveal the truth to execute the ape. MacDonald decided to secretly deactivate the electroshock machine, which allowed Caesar to fake his own death by pretending that the machine was still on and it killed him.

As the Governor and his people left, Caesar attacked the officer that electrocuted him, escaped the facilities and returned to the secret basement where his Ape Army was waiting. That same night the revolution begins, with Caesar leading his army to the Ape Management facilities. The apes attack all the officers inside while also freeing all the other apes trapped in the facility, increasing their forces. The army starts having trouble in the building when the officers start using guns against them and are particularly troubled by one human that uses a giant flamethrower to make them retreat, but he is stopped by a gorilla, allowing the army to exit Ape Management and head to the streets. This battle ends with many Ape Management officials either dead or held hostage.

The Night of the Fires[]

A news report informed the situation to all citizens, ordering them to stay in their homes as the Governor decides to desperately send his soldiers to the streets in hopes of stopping this "ape mob". As the Riot Control soldiers march through the city, Caesar's army quietly dumps kerosene into the Plaza, taking advantage of the darkness. The soldiers encounter the apes that dumped kerosene, believing that they were the whole army, and shoot them down after telling them to retreat.

The rest of the ape army, that results being much bigger, arrives to avenge their fallen comrades and the soldiers began to aim again, but are stopped by a net that two gorillas throw at them. The ape army stabs the soldiers and steal their guns, heading for the city Plaza. Riot Control units four and six build a cordon at the Plaza, the apes later arrive and the soldiers try to order them to return home, but after the apes ignored their orders they choose to take aim, only for a gorilla to set fire to the plaza on Caesar's orders thanks to the kerosene dumped earlier. Unable to aim properly due to the fire wall created by the apes, the soldiers are quickly overwhelmed by the army, who also steals their weapons. As each new unit of soldiers arrives, the ape army is able to trick them by hiding and later attacking them from behind, making them believe that they were far fewer than they actually were.

Now armed with firearms, the ape army starts shooting back at the soldiers that try to gain distance from them and head for the Command post. Once at the building, the army cuts the power and make their way inside while the few apes that were working there also start to rebel, being inspired by Caesar's actions. After finally opening the door of the room where the Governor and his assistants were, the apes viscously shoot at them, only taking Governor Breck and Mr. MacDonald as hostages.

Planet of the Apes[]

Taking Governor Breck out to the streets for execution, MacDonald questions the Ape Rebellion, only for Caesar to give a speech prophesying the fall of humanity after which he would lead his people to build a new civilization. After Caesar orders his army to murder Breck, Lisa, his lover, says "No", being the first ape of the army other than Caesar to speak. This makes Caesar reconsider his actions, telling his army to put down their weapons while claiming that, now that they survived the night of the fires, humans will be their servants, as this was now the birth of the "Planet of the Apes".

Aftermath[]

Following this, the humans would ravage their own world with the vilest war in human history. This nuclear war ended with the great cities of the world split asunder and flattened.
