The simian age-Helena taken away

The night Helena was taken away

Amy was a chimpanzee and the wife of Thomas. She was proud of her husband after he led a protest against the use of shaming punishments by the gorillas to enforce the new wartime austerity codes. Although her husband didn’t care much for their daughter, she named her Helena. Tragically, Helena was taken from both of them as a baby.

Despite her best efforts to help Thomas, he was never the same after being beaten, arrested, and jailed by the gorillas for leading the protest. After that, they were both exiled to the Forbidden Zone, taking refuge in the Statue of Liberty, which he nicknamed the lighthouse. He prohibited Amy from leaving him without explanations or even daring to try to have a new baby in this forsaken place. Their marriage soon began to crumble as Amy tried to finish cleaning the lighthouse she called home to avoid Thomas’s arrival. She started to draw Helena as she imagined her as a grown chimpanzee instead of how she was, her mind drifting in sadness over the loss of her child.

The simian age-Amy takes care of the mutant

One day, she saw a pair of humans on horseback, a female and a male, outside her home. She quickly grabbed a scalpel to defend herself but couldn’t think of anything else to do except hide until they left. Alone once again, she encountered a mutant human with a mask that reminded her of the punishments inflicted by the gorillas that her husband opposed. She debated using the scalpel to defend herself but quickly dismissed the idea. Instead, she used the scalpel to unlock the strange creature’s mask and cared for them, but she couldn’t bring herself to let the stranger inside the lighthouse. The stranger pleaded with Amy to let them in but eventually grew tired of begging. Instead, the mutant built a makeshift raft and started to drift out into the ocean. Meanwhile, Amy questioned whether she had made the right choice by keeping the creature out of her life.
