- April 18: Actress Georgia Schmidt passes away. Schmidt was filmed for the Planet of the Apes television series episode "The Cure" as an 'elderly woman', but the scene was cut from the broadcast episode.
- April 27: Actor Paul Lambert passes away. Lambert played the role of the Minister in the 1968 Planet of the Apes film.
- December: It's reported that James Cameron's development company, Lightstorm Entertainment and 20th Century Fox wish to get the movie on fastrack in the new year.
