- A Planet of the Apes 1976 Annual appears in the UK, published by Brown Watson.
- Ballantine Books publishes novelizations of the Return to the Planet of the Apes TV series written by 'William Arrow' under the titles Visions From Nowhere, Escape From Terror Lagoon and Man, The Hunted Animal.
- February 12: Actor Sal Mineo is murdered. Mineo appeared in Escape from the Planet of the Apes playing the role of Doctor Milo.
- March 15: Comedy sketch show Planeta dos Homens, loosely based on the Planet of the Apes concept, begins its six-year run on Brazil's TV Globo.
- March 23: Actress Keri Russell is born. Russell played the role of Ellie in the 2014 movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
- April 1: Actor David Oyelowo is born. Oyelowo played the role of Steven Jacobs in the 2011 movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
- April 18: Actor Kevin Rankin is born. Rankin played the role of McVeigh in the 2014 movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
- June: Marvel UK merge their weekly Planet Of The Apes comic series into Planet of the Apes and Dracula Lives, beginning with issue #88.
- July 19: Actor Eugene O. Roth passes away. Roth was filmed for the Planet of the Apes television series episode "The Cure" as an 'elderly man', but the scene was cut from the broadcast episode.
- September 30: Screenwriter Paul Dehn passes away. Dehn wrote the scripts for the films Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Escape from the Planet of the Apes, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes and Battle for the Planet of the Apes.
- November 20th: Marvel UK releases Planet of the Apes and Dracula Lives issue #109. The first story reprints Planet of the Apes Magazine #23.
- December: Adventures on the Planet of the Apes #11 is published by Marvel Comics with this cover date, following which the line is cancelled.
