- February 3: Actor Victor Buono is born in San Diego, California. Buono featured in the 1970 film Beneath the Planet of the Apes, playing the leading mutant, Adiposo.
- March 12: Screenwriter and animator Ken Spears is born. Spears was story consultant for the Planet of the Apes television series.
- August 30: Actor Don Pedro Colley is born in Klamath Falls, Oregon. In Beneath the Planet of the Apes Colley played the mutant character Ongaro (the 'Negro').
