A sequel to Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has entered the early stages of pre-production as of today!
Kingdom is not a decent film; it's a great film, just as good as Rise, Dawn, and War. Kingdom established the world after Caesar's time perfectly.
Yes, it was, in its own way.

Update: The script is almost done; at best, filming could begin in Fall 2022 or next year. Again, I'm still iffy on whether if Ball could deliver on the franchise.

They will. The question is if Ball can deliver the same way Wyatt and Reeves did with the first three.
Luca was only in Dawn and War. The gorilla is Rise was Buck. Also, western lowland gorillas are easy to tell apart from their eastern counterparts due to the reddish-brown patch in the western lowland gorillas' heads.
Still a little iffy about the direction he wants to take and how he plans to show it through his film method, also, the writer for the script also wrote the script for Avatar 2, which will debut in December 2021 and depending how it does, I hope the writer can express the same level of commitment and focus on the story as the first three scripts for Rise, Dawn and War portrayed. Also Jaffa and Silver will return to overlook the film, so let's hope they can keep a vigilante eye to make sure the film doesn't deter from the same path as the Chernin Entertainment trilogy. Any thoughts?.
I'm excited, but I'm also wary and unconvinced. I believe they should have chosen a different director than Wes Ball; despite the Maze Runner series making almost a billion dollars, the Box Office went down with each film, all three have received mixed reviews, and it was Ball's debut in the director business (a safe move would've been to have Matt Reeves work on it after his Batman film). Aside form the director angle, I hope the story for the Planet of the Apes is a sequel to War rather than a reboot of the entire franchise because the first three Chernin Entertainment films set up the world of the POTA so perfectly (minus that a few minor things could've been changed) and I believe fans would be more interesting to see how the story continues on with Caesar dead (I hope to see his only surviving son Cornelius take the helm), and how the apes progress even further to the point where they're full blown similar to APJ's apes from the 1968 film. This is my thought.
