I'm excited, but I'm also wary and unconvinced. I believe they should have chosen a different director than Wes Ball; despite the Maze Runner series making almost a billion dollars, the Box Office went down with each film, all three have received mixed reviews, and it was Ball's debut in the director business (a safe move would've been to have Matt Reeves work on it after his Batman film). Aside form the director angle, I hope the story for the Planet of the Apes is a sequel to War rather than a reboot of the entire franchise because the first three Chernin Entertainment films set up the world of the POTA so perfectly (minus that a few minor things could've been changed) and I believe fans would be more interesting to see how the story continues on with Caesar dead (I hope to see his only surviving son Cornelius take the helm), and how the apes progress even further to the point where they're full blown similar to APJ's apes from the 1968 film. This is my thought.
